Things To Do

"Tahoe is surely not one but many. As I curve around its heads and bays and look far out on its level sky fairly tinted and fading in pensive air, I am reminded of all the mountain lakes I ever knew, as if this were a kind of water heaven to which they all had come" - John Muir

Where To Eat

Gastromaniac

We really loved this place while living in Tahoe. They keep it simple with homemade pastas and pizzas and they have a decent wine selection for such a casual spot. No need for reservations generally, you order at the counter and then find a table.

Dave’s pick: Bolognese Campanelle

Bethany’s pick: Prosciutto Arucola Pizza

Slice of Sierra Pizza

Where Bethany & Dave met and arguably spent the most nights at during their time together in Tahoe. You never know what kind of service you will get, but the pizza is decent, the beer is cheap, and the vibes are high! Plus there are fake tatoos in the quarter machines…

Dave’s pick: Pepperoni

Bethany’s Pick: PBG&J with Ranch!

MacDuffs

Of course we’re going to suggest an Irish Pub for you! After evacuating together, Bethany headed to Utah and Dave headed to San Diego, they reunited as a couple for the first time in Tahoe at MacDuffs. Reservations suggested.

Dave’s pick: Beer… and a burger?

Bethany’s pick: The Real Shepherd’s Pie

Artemis

The lakefront location of Artemis on Ski Run is such a gem! We enjoyed evenings sitting at the patio bar or taking our guests here to enjoy the views of the lake and delicious greek food. This was also Bethany’s first meal when she moved to Tahoe. Reservations suggested.

Dave’s pick: Chicken Souvlake

Bethany’s pick: Saganaki

Where To Drink

The Hangar

The amount of nights with texts that sound like this… “We’re headed to The Hangar at 6 if anyone wants to join!” This is a tap room with a huge selection of excellent beer, a huge beer garden with plenty of space to gather, and a food truck or two to choose from. We’d suggest grabbing a pizza from our friends at Get Rad!

Breweries

Each of the breweries in town has a special place and meaning for us. Spread throughout the city you can enjoy the firepits & rope lights in the evenings at South of North, a good selection of sours and board games at Sidellis, the best quality beer (according to Dave) at South Lake Brewing, and a cute little hut of a brewery at Tahoe Brew House.

Idle Hour

Situated right on the lake with a wide selection of wines, this is a great place for a cheese plate, a glass of wine, and to enjoy the sunset. We suggest seeing if they can sit you on the patio downstairs and ordering a cheese plate. Reservations or a call ahead suggested.

Cocktail Corner

Cocktail Corner is '“down at the Y” and has a great outdoor sitting area, often has live music, and you can grab a pizza from aleworx while there (have you noticed how much pizza this town has!). Cocktail corner was within walking distance to Dave’s house and we often landed there when we wanted ‘just one more’ before calling it a night.

Where To Play

Beaches

The last summer we spent in Tahoe was spent living on the beach as much as we could. We’d pack the bikes, jump on the bike path, and spend all day reading and soaking in the sun.

Kiva Beach

Nevada Beach

Timber Cove (tiki bar)

Text us for a secret suggestion ;)

Hiking

Here are a few of our favorite hikes (big on the views!), text us if you are looking for something specific. We’d love to suggest something!

Cave Rock: 1 mi (easy)

Tahoe Mountain: 2 mi (medium)

Cathedral Lake: 5 mi (medium)

Maggies Peak: 4 mi (hard)

Casinos

It’s not for everyone, but it’s for some! Try your hand at a slot machine or grab a seat at a blackjack table.

If you are looking for a cheap drink to get the cheap thrills rolling, we suggest stopping into Dotty’s Casino where they serve up cheap strong cocktails in a red solo cup! We don’t take responsibility for what happens after that.

Floating

Rent a kayak or a paddle board and get in at any of the beaches. Sound like too much? Just blow up a floatie, it’s the best way to experience the beach!

A few other suggestions…

Clearly Tahoe Kayak Tours

Float the river up in North Lake (Plan a full day trip for this)

Get on a boat and catch some fish
